Stephen Colbert got Daft Punk'd....but he was still able to "Get Lucky" in the end. Watch the hilarious video here.

Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" is the song of the summer...but the band stood Colbert up.

They were scheduled to play Tuesday night, but Daft Punk had promised MTV an exclusive performance of "Get Lucky".

"We booked Click and Clack over here about a month ago," Colbert told audiences. "Apparently, Daft Punk are going to make a surprise appearance on the MTV Video Music Awards. Don't tell anyone, because fun fact: No one told me until two hours ago."

"This is a real kick in my balls," Colbert said, then continued, after a dramatic pause, with "Brought to you by Hyundai!"

It seemed like the hot date with Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter was off and nobody would Get Lucky. But Stephen Colbert spun it into a star-studded montage.

Colbert joked that his StePhest Colbchella 2013 event was Punk'd by Daft Punk. Ashton Kutcher came on stage and told Colbert that he was f__k'd, not punk'd.

Colbert then did his own lip-synced version of Get Lucky from there, including celebs like Jimmy Fallon, Matt Damon, Jeff Bridges, Hugh Laurie, the Rockettes, and the casts of Breaking Bad and America's Got Talent.

How he got eight gazillion celebs to shoot the song at such short notice is a mystery...but it somehow happened.

Colbchella was an epic affair. And he was able to Get Lucky in the end.

Watch the "Get Lucky" performance here.
