Sandlot Star Arrested: Smalls AKA Tom Guiry Allegedly Head Butts Policeman [VIDEO] After Ruled Too Drunk To Fly, Charged With Aggravated Assault

Sandlot star arrested: Smalls, real name Tom Guiry, allegedly head-butted a police officer when he was deemed too drunk to fly Monday at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston.

The 32-year-old Tom Guiry's most notable role was as Scotty Smalls in the 1993 film, "The Sandlot," which he was the star of the movie. He was arrested when a United Airlines employee told him he was too wasted to fly.

When the employee contacted an airport cop, the cop gave Tom Guiry two options: a public intoxication arrest or the drunk-tank, according to TMZ. Smalls allegedly decided to take a Sandlot like approach and fight back. He was allegedly verbally abusive and belligerent. The movie star threatened the officer, tried to kick him, bust wasn't successful until connecting with a head-butt.

"At that point, he [Guiry] gets agitated and makes repeated threats against the sergeant," Houston police spokesman Victor Senties told the New York Post.

This is when the police officer told him he would be arrested for public intoxication and the head-butt from Guiry happened.

"He's fine but he did suffer a laceration to the head,"Senties said about the police officer who was head-butted.

Smalls was Guiry's role in "The Sandlot" when a young kid moved into a new town with his mother and step-father. He met new friends who played baseball at a sandlot during the summer, which these kids became his best friends. Smalls was took a Babe Ruth signed baseball without his step-father knowing, didn't know who Ruth was. After the ball goes into a yard that nobody has ever gone in to retrieve a ball and come back because of Hercules, the dog, the group would have to come together to try and save the day.

The cast celebrated the film's 20th anniversary last month, which Guiry did not attend.

Guiry was booked for assault, causing bodily injury on a public servant. The Hamilton, NJ, resident posted $5,000 bail and was ordered to appear in Harris County District Court on Sept. 17, according to jail records.

If Guiry would have taken the trip to the drunk-tank, he would have reportedly had no charges against him. It would have been an opportunity for him to sober up and then catch a later flight.
