"Fifty Shades of Grey" movie adaption is currently in pre-production, and wrapping up auditions for a cast. Reports state that model Cara Delevingne may have landed a part in "Fifty Shades of Grey." Will she play Anastasia Steele's best friend Kate Kavanagh in the film?

The 20-year-old model has reportedly auditioned for a highly coveted role in the highly-anticipated film adaptation of E.L. James' erotic trilogy, The Daily Mail reports.

A source told The Sun: "Cara is a front-runner for a part. She's desperate to get the gig and has always said that she wanted to be taken seriously as an actress."

Insiders revealed that Cara is close friends with actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who is the husband of Sam Taylor Wood, the director of "Fifty Shades of Grey."

Cara and Aaron met during her film debut in the 2012 Hollywood remake of "Anna Karenina," alongside Keira Knightley and Jude Law, The Daily Mail reports.

The source added: "[Cara] is a global icon now and a good actress as well and Sam wants her in the movie - though which part exactly hasn't been established. [Cara's] agent has also been talking to Kelly Marcel, the screenplay writer. And, if needs be, a strong role will be written in for her."

Cara's blonde hair, amazing body, and fierce attitude perfectly fit the description of Anastasia Steele's best friend and roommate Kate Kavanagh in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" trilogy. Latinos Post describes Cara as having an "attractive ferocity," a "'who cares?' attitude," and a "rebel." Kate is similarly tough and confident, and so beautiful that it makes men "tongue-tied." So it's possible that Cara is auditioning for this secondary role.

The supermodel walked in over 30 shows in fashion week last season, according to The Daily Mail. Cara will head to Ibiza next week to celebrate her 21st birthday.

The website also reports on the contenders that have been mentioned by fans and the Internet for the roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. So far, Christian Grey fan favorites include Robert Pattinson, Chris Pine, William Levy, Joshua Bowman, James Deen, Hayden Christensen, and Alexander Skarsgård.

As for Anastasia, favorites are Lauren Watson, Emilia Clarke, Lucy Hale, Alexis Bledel, Emma Watson, and Elizabeth Olsen, The Daily Mail notes.
