Nokia Lumia 1020 Specs, Price, Release Date: Powerful 41-Megapixel Camera ‘Best Windows Phone Ever Made,’ Handset Now Avail At Amazon

The Nokia Lumia 1020 specs of having a 41-megapixel sensor instantly made it the smartphone with the best camera in the market. And according to Matthew Miller’s article on ZDNet, the handset is the “best windows phone ever made.”

After his exhaustive review of the gadget on the site, Miller concluded that though Nokia Lumia 1020 is the best Windows phone out there, it may not be for everyone because of its size. The author shifted from iPhone 5 to the Lumia 1020 and said that he discovers new functions with the camera daily.

The attractive and unique, boxy phone designs also help make Nokia Lumia 1020 an aesthetic pleaser.

Now available on Amazon

Since Nokia announced the release of their newest handset, AT&T has begun offering the phone for $299 on a 2-year contract. The cameraphone, according to GSM Arena, is now available for $250.00 on Amazon, giving aspiring Lumia owners a $49.99 discount.

The discounted Nokia Lumia 1020 on the retail site is available in black, white and yellow color options.

The widely talked about Windows Phone will come to the U.K. in September, according to O2. The price of the phone in pounds sterling has yet to be determined.

Living up to its hype

According to a report at VentureBeat, the Nokia Lumia 1020 lived up to its hype as it can take very clear photos almost similar to what a point and shoot camera can produce. Based on a series of images taken by VentureBeat, the images could be mistaken as coming from DSLR shots. Even in low light, the smartphone from the Finnish tech giant is way ahead of the competition.

The 1020 also shoots the best videos coming from a smartphone, thanks to the powerful PureView sensor. The phone’s advance optical image stabilization allows anyone who can’t keep their hands steady while taking video to be able to capture clear visuals.

The look of the phone stands-out as it doesn’t look like any other phone in the market, which the VentureBeat write says is a good thing.

Windows Phone on Nokia Lumia 1020 a bad move

The Windows Phone inability to effectively integrate with news specs and features aligned with today’s innovations is the key reason that makes the Nokia Lumia 1020, generally a letdown.

Simple integration services to popular web services like YouTube and popular apps like Instagram is non-existent. The lack of an official Instagram app is a huge deficiency, primarily because the selling point of the smartphone is on its image creation capabilities.

The most popular third-party Instagram app, Instance for Windows Phone, had its photo submissions deleted by Facebook at one point. Although Hipstamatic for Windows Phone allows uploads to the famous photo and video-sharing network, but does not allow the user to browse or like photos.

The Windows Phone system also lacks the ecosystem that the iOS and Google Play has when it comes to apps. Although Microsoft recently announced that the mobile operating system now has more than 160,000 apps, is still doesn’t have key apps. This includes the current mobile game craze, Candy Crush Saga.

The lack of demand for Windows Phone app has been the key reason as to why developers are slow in creating apps for the platform.

The VentureBeat writer says that if the Lumia 1020 run on Android, it would be one of the best phones in the market.
