Nexus 5 Release Date Expected Around Q4 2013; Motorola To Produce $30 More Expensive Next-Gen Google Smartphone

Lots of rumors about Nexus 5 release date are pointing out to a Q4 2013 launch of the upcoming Google smartphone. Allegedly, it will be $30 more expensive than the predecessor, Nexus 4.

Though there is no exact Nexus 5 release date announced yet, there are various speculations indicating different possible launch schedules for the device. For instance, according to International Business Times, Nexus 5 release date may be set for November since its predecessor, the LG-built Nexus 4, was unveiled that same month last year.

On the other hand, BGR reported rumors that Nexus 5 release date may come on the 4th quarter of 2013 but it could be as early as October 5. However, this may be unlikely to happen since October falls on a Saturday.

Aside from rumors about Nexus 5 release date, Android fans are also excited to know who is going to be the new manufacturer of the next-gen Google smartphone since there are reports that LG will not be working on it. This is contrary to what was originally expected since LG had the contract for Nexus 5' predecessor, the Nexus 4.

This report supported a previous report citing a statement from Won Kim, the Vice President for LG Mobile, saying that the company "wills no longer manufacturer Google devices because it does not need such a marketing success again."

Recent reports are now saying that Motorola is now working on Nexus 5 release date, as it was the one tasked by Google to produce the highly-anticipated Android smartphone. The news about Motorola making Nexus 5 came from Taylor Wimberly, as cited by Know Your Mobile. In his Google+ account, he said, "Motorola will release a Nexus smartphone in Q4 (that is not the Moto X)."

Some of the rumored specs for Nexus 5 include a quad core Snapdragon 800 processor clocked with 2.3 GHz, 3GB RAM, 5.2-inch full HD screen display, 16MP rear camera with OmniVision sensor and 2.1MP front camera and 3300 mAh battery.

Nexus 5 is also rumored to debut together with the upcoming iteration of Google's mobile operating system, the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie.

Reports claim that Nexus 5 may come with a price tag $30 higher than the Nexus 4, which was available for $329.99 (8GB) and $379.99 (16 GB and 32 GB), as reported by FashionNStyle.
