Jamal Charles Injury [Update] Day-To-Day 'Mild Foot Strain' For Kansas City Chiefs RB [VIDEO] After Leaving Practice Monday Putting Fear Into Organization And Fantasy Football Owners

Jamal Charles injury update isn't as scary as the Kansas City Chiefs or fantasy football owners might have worried at first because after seeing two doctors, Charles is listed as day-to-day with a "mild foot strain."

The Jamal Charles injury update comes from when during practice on Monday when he had to be carted off, holding onto his foot. On Tuesday, he was at practice, watching, along with the other injured Chiefs.

According to the Associated Press, Jamal Charles can return to practice following this injury as early as Wednesday. A lucky update for new head coach Andy Reid was verified when Charles sought a second opinion to confirm that he will be back real soon.

"We'll just see how he does. Precautionary measures," Reid told ESPN about Charles's return. "We'll see how he does here in the next little bit -- see where he's at as far as pain or swelling. We'll see how he does.

Charles hasn't been injury-pronged because he has started 15 of the 16 games in four of his first five seasons in the NFL. In 2011, he missed 14 games because of a torn ACL.

Knile Davis, the Chiefs' third-round draft pick, stepped into Charles' place with the first-team offense for the remainder of Monday's practice and Tuesday. Davis had already moved past veteran Shaun Draughn and second-year running back Cyrus Gray to No. 2 on the depth chart, according to ESPN.

"He went down. I had to get in, step in and play my role," Davis said. "[Reid's] whole goal was to build a team where if one man went down the next man would step up."

Jamal Charles's value to the Kansas City Chiefs was shown in the first preseason game when he was carried the ball more than half the time for the 14 offensive plays he was out there for. Just in case, Knile is given a chance to prove himself and was off to a good start.

"It was good work for Knile today, if you want to take a positive from it," Reid said. "It gives another guy an opportunity to practice. That's how I look at it. It allowed Knile, our young running back, to get good work with the ones."

Jamaal Charles averages 5.8 yards per rush. This is the highest average by a running back with a minimum of 500 attempts in the history of the NFL. This includes a better average than Jim Brown, Bo Jackson and any other legend to play the position.
