Jennifer Garner Explains Why She Is Rarely Seen In Public With Husband Ben Affleck: Doesn’t Want To Lose Identity As ‘Wife Of’ Affleck

Jennifer Garner explains why she and her husband Ben Affleck are rarely seen at public events together, in the September issue of Allure magazine, in which she graces the front cover.

According to Zap2it.com, Garner's, 41, lack of public outings with Affleck, 40, is "a very conscious decision."

The actress dishes, according to Gossip Cop: "Sometimes it's a pain because my heels are so high and it would be really nice to have his arm. And he's such a great date! But it can be too much."

"I think especially for women, they can really lose their identity and just become 'wife of,'" Garner explains.

It seems like Garner is more proud of being a mother to three children.

"If you'd said to me, 'You could be a mom or you could be anything else in the world,' I would have been a mom," she said in the Allure interview.

Garner and Affleck's children are Violet, seven, Seraphina, four, and 17-month-old son Samuel.

Though Affleck and Garner met on the set of 2003's "Daredevil," she thinks they won't be cast as an on-screen love interest for each other again.

"Really, you don't want to see a couple onscreen," she says. "People see paparazzi shots of us together all the time. There's no mystery ... People are sick of us."

But just because she doesn't want to be on the arm of Affleck all the time in front of cameras, doesn't mean she wouldn't support her husband. There are rumors that Affleck will potentially running for public office one day.

Garner said: "Right now [Ben] feels like he can do more good for people politically from outside the system. Would I be surprised if one day he did go into politics? No. But not now."

"I'm along for the ride," she assured.

The magazine edition hits newsstands on August 20.
