The rumor mill for iPad 5 release date is continuously in high gear, with the latest one supporting the arrival of Apple's full-sized tablet ahead of the holiday season.

According to reports, the iPad 5 release date will be set for October together with another highly-anticipated product from Apple, the iPad Mini 2 with Retina Display. The report from Bloomberg suggested that iPad Mini 2 with Retina display and iPad 5 release date will be the same as Apple is planning to launch the tablets in tandem "to try and regain control over the market."

Contrary to reports that iPad 5 release date may be set for September, it is noted that the upcoming tablet will not steal the limelight during Apple event on September 10, as it is claimed that the press conference will concentrate on the new iPhone, allegedly, the iPhone 5S and iPhone Light.

Aside from iPad 5 release date, Apple fans are also excited with the new features and specs the Apple tablet will bring to the market. BRG posted, "Apple's fifth-generation iPad is expected to feature a huge redesign that adopts the design identity of the iPad mini"

Most likely, the iPad 5 and the iPad Mini 2 will be both thinner and lighter compared to the tablets released last year. Specifically, iPad 5 will have 9.7 inch display, equipped with thinner bezels and an updated A7 processor.

Furthermore, Wall Street Journal noted that the iPad 5 will sport a GF2 screen technology within a layer of the tablet screen. As iDigital Times specified, "The touch panel, equipped with touch sensors, lies between the liquid-crystal display and the outmost cover." Moreover, "Apple is designing the newest iPad model with the film-based touch panel due to the success of its use within the current iPad Mini."
