JYP’s Park Jin Young… His Reason for Singing?

"Among money, fame and love - and love was the best among them all." This line is from Park Jin Young's new single.

He had it all, and that's why Park Ji Young's new single really touches the heart. It carries a weight that an artist who's in his twenties can never portray.

JYP Entertainment's Park Jin Young revealed his new single "Love Is the Best" from his upcoming album Halftime on September 2nd. The song has a unique style - the lyrics aren't sung so much as gently spoken, and it carries a rather weighty message but delivers it with convincing attitude of a man who's had it all. It's performed over a mid-tempo hip-hop beat with a simple background melody. JYP's gentle vocals and beautiful piano playing, CCM artist Namgung Song Ok's featuring, and Dynamic Duo Gaeko's rap all comes together to make this song perfect for a gentle autumn listening.

Park Jin Young said that his focus in life had shifted from "I will live passionately" to "why should I live passionately" and that he wanted to portray this change of focus in his new album "Halftime".

"Love Is the Best", a song that is written by Park Jin Young, shows this change and his struggle to find the answer to his question. His lyrics say, "I didn't become a millionaire but I ate all the best foods, and I can't say I'm the best but I received a lot of accolades. I thought if I tried a little harder happiness would be mine; I tried and tried to achieve that happiness, but among money, fame, and love, love was the best among them all".

Gaeko also raps, "I obeyed my passion when I didn't know what I'd become, and now I have money, trophies, and a foreign car that growls its engine; I was fascinated by money and fame, and they were like smoke that turn into smog -  it charred me, leaving me and my lust somewhere between a man and a beast."

The song was written when Park Jin Young was travelling last Autumn to Middle East and Israel. This song reminds us all why we need more artists in their 40's and above who can portray life without being bland, obvious, or obnoxious about it.

The title song to his album, "Partied to My Heart's Content" will be released on the 9th.
