EXO's Record-Breaking Album Sales For 'XOXO' - Impressive!

There is no doubt that SM Entertainment mega boy band EXO is wildly popular, but now they have gone and officially proven it.

The twelve-member Chinese-Korean pop group has toppled over 700,000 copies sold of their first full-length studio album XOXO.

A statement from EXO's record label, SM Entertainment, early September 4 revealed that "According to the Korean Music Industry Association, they are the first artist to break the record of selling over 700,000 in twelve years since 2001 with Kim Gun Mo's 7th album and Jo Sung Mo's 4th album."

EXO has sold 424,260 copies of the original XOXO album and an additional 312,899 of the repackaged version.

That brings sales to nearly 740,000 since the album's release three months ago on June 3.

The repackaged album was released in August and includes EXO's latest single "Growl."

Comparatively, the last two artists to break 700K, Kim Gun Mo and Jo Sung Mo, sold 1,390,000 and 960,000 copies respectively.

For over a decade, no other artist has seen such numbers for physical album sales, which is largely due to the growing popularity of digital downloads and music streaming sites.

Meanwhile EXO continues to garner international attention for their scheduled promotional activities and music performances for "Growl."
