'RoboCop' Remake Trailer 2013 Starring Michael Keaton Leaves Some Fans Skeptical Ahead Of Release Date [VIDEO]

MGM's "RoboCop" remake hit the internet on Thursday, starring Michael Keaton, and fans of Paul Verhoeven's 1987 action classic have taken to Twitter to express their views on the upcoming reboot.

As The Inquisitir reports, most fans agree that the "RoboCop" remake is overall not a good idea.

Yet with the release of the first 2013 trailer of the "RoboCop" reboot, Twitter users seemed to think that the trailer made the film look not nearly as bad as expected, though they seemed hesitant to say the remake would surpass the original.

"'RoboCop' trailer is as expected. Pretty but apparently lacking any of the wit that made the first film so good," one micro-blogger recently tweeted, The Inquisitr reports.

"The trailer for the Robocop remake is... interesting. I'll withhold judgement until I see it, but the original's satirical bite seems absent," @foalpapers tweeted.

"Just seen the new robocop trailer. Looks a bit samey. Maybe should have made it a female robocop instead," @Hippo_Critic wrote.

@devincf added, "The ROBOCOP trailer is a good time to announce I'm quitting film criticism."

"Nothing is gonna beat the original, but that Robocop trailer looked f*ckin insane!! Can't wait to watch that. 2014 needs to hurry up!" @IMMY_ISLAM tweeted.

"RoboCop" stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael K. Williams, Jay Baruchel, Jennifer Ehle, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.

Michael Keaton stars as the role of villain Raymond Sellars, the CEO of OmniCorp., the all-powerful corporation that creates our cyborg hero, E! News reports.

According to The Inquisitr, Joel Kinnaman stars as police officer Alex Murphy in the "RoboCop" reboot. A car bomb leaves him severely burned, so scientists at OmniCorp use his body for an experiment. Murphy is transformed into the future of law enforcement.

However, a twist from the original "RoboCop" is that, instead of wiping his memory, the remake keeps the character's human side at the forefront.

The film's release date is February 7, 2014.
