100-Car Pileup In London Leaves 200 Injured, 0 Deaths, 8 Critical Condition: Mystery Truck Driver Saves Lives With Bold Move

A 100-car pileup in London Thursday morning right near a bridge injured almost 200 people. Eight are in critical condition.

The 100-car pileup in London happened around 7:15 a.m. and lasted about 10 minutes long.

A Kent police spokeswoman told The Guardian that there were no deaths from the 100-car pileup in London. One side of the A249 Bridge remained completely closed as emergency workers tried to remove the vehicles.

"There are no fatalities but ambulance crews are dealing with a large number of walking wounded casualties," the spokeswoman told The Guardian. "Firefighters have used hydraulic cutting equipment to release five people from their vehicles."

30 of the 200 injured people were taken to Medway Maritime and Queen Elizabeth hospitals.

A witness told the Examiner that the sounds of brakes squealing and the disturbing noise of metal twisting were all you could make out in the thick fog.

Witnesses told WebPro News that a truck driver pulled his truck across the road to block other vehicles from entering the bridge, where the accident occurred. One accident victim said he doesn't know who the truck driver is, but he'd like to shake his hand and thank him because his actions saved lives on that bridge. The truck driver stayed until emergency services showed up to take care of the situation.

The thick fog that rolled in dropping visibility down to almost nothing is said to play a major part in this crash, along with drivers failing to slow down in the fog, according to Examiner.
