Upcoming Android Phones 2013: Acer Unveils Liquid S2, First To Record Videos On 4K Format

The smartphone duopoly between Samsung and Apple is one good reason to back off from this particular industry. But for computer manufacturer Acer, they see no harm in trying.

The Taiwanese-based company unveiled its first ever phablet device during the IFA event in Berlin, Germany on Wednesday.

Dubbed as the Liquid S2, this device continues where its predecessor, Acer Liquid, has left off. But before anything else, this 6" phablet has already made the rounds for its claim as the first device in its size to capture videos on ultra high definition 4K format.

If that does not impress you just yet, the Liquid S2 also boasts a variety of notable specifications such as a 13MP primary snapper equipped with a 28mm wide angle lens. It also boasts full HD videos, as well as video recording at an amazing 60fps, which can easily be converted into slow motion clips.

Under the phablet's hood is a quadcore CPU with four 2.2Ghz Krait 400 cores. It also packs 16GB of internal storage and microSD that can support up to 128GB. Given the high quality of its recorded videos, that's extremely understandable.

The OS runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean right out of the box, but let's hope Acer will be able to support future updates so the device won't get outdated easily.

The phablet also has a 3,300mAh battery, though that may not last enough when you use this particular phone that focuses on photography and video recording.

Prices were not yet available as of the moment, but we'll keep you updated.
