I was a fan of Heejun Han when he was a contestant on FOX's "American Idol." Although the singer didn't win the competition, he made it high enough on the show to become a popular star amongst his fellow Korean Americans. Instead of running to Korea to start a career in music, Mr. Han instead decided to pursue a career in America. Han signed with Korea based label Polaris but decided it wasn't for him when they wanted him to release an album in Korea and not in the U.S. Han said this about wanting to be an artist in America:

“My first language is Korean,” says Han. “I eat Korean food every day. Trust me, I can’t eat non-Korean food. Deep down inside, I’m most Korean in this Korean world. But I am not a K-pop singer. I’m in America. I’m an artist who also happens to be Korean.”

After pushing for it, Polaris decided to help his release in America and the single "Bring The Love Back," was born. The music video featuring rapper Pusha T. The music video takes place in a party house with a pool, babes, making out, dancing, vintage cars, short shorts, and flirting. The video isn't necessarily a stand out one but Heejun's single is definitely impressive and a single I never thought he was would release. HeeJun always seemed like a strictly ballad singer to me and to see him go out of his comfort zone and reach for the stars career-wise and vocally is admirable.

Han had this to say about the meaning behind the lyrics to his song,

 “When you watch the news, there's a really important thing that's missing in our lives. It's love. I feel like we have to somehow bring the love back into our society and into the world. The song is talking about bringing my girl back to my heart, but I'm talking about bringing the love back to the people who haven't had it.”

So I give a YAY to Heejun for his new single, positive message, music video, and comeback. Best of luck to you, you Korean food loving American you!
