‘Wolverine’ Hugh Jackman’s New Film ‘Prisoners’ Gets Generally Positive Reviews [WATCH TRAILER]; Calls Jake Gyllenhall ‘A Great Actor’ And ‘A Great Mate’ [PHOTOS]

"Wolverine" Hugh Jackman showed up beardless and clawless at the Toronto International Film Festival for the screening of his movie "Prisoners."  The film has so far garnered generally positive feedback, with Rotten Tomatoes giving it a 93 percent rating, based on 15 reviews and Metacritic giving it 82 percent based on seven critics.

Scott Foundas of Variety said of the film, "A spellbinding, sensationally effective thriller with a complex moral center that marks a grand-slam English-lingo debut for the gifted Quebecois director Denis Villeneuve."

Stephen Farber of Hollywood Reporter wrote, "Viewers who see the movie will find it absolutely riveting, and this is a tribute to the filmmaker's skill and to the excellent cast that brings the story to life."

Tim Robey of The Telegraph, on the other hand, said, "What's unconvincing is how cagily the movie retreats backwards out of this alley, relying on blind happenstance to unearth the necessary clues, as if it doesn't want to repeat that Zero Dark Thirty error of implying that torture gets results."

Warner Bros. gives a synopsis of the film:

How far would you go to protect your family?  Keller Dover (Hugh Jackman) is facing every parent's worst nightmare.  His six-year-old daughter, Anna, is missing, together with her young friend, Joy, and as minutes turn to hours, panic sets in.  The only lead is a dilapidated RV that had earlier been parked on their street.  Heading the investigation, Detective Loki (Jake Gyllenhaal) arrests its driver, Alex Jones (Paul Dano), but a lack of evidence forces his release.

As the police pursue multiple leads and pressure mounts, knowing his child's life is at stake the frantic Dover decides he has no choice but to take matters into his own hands.  But just how far will this desperate father go to protect his family?

Not only had the movie brought great talents together, but it seems that the 44-year old Australian actor had found a friend in his 32-year old co-star.  He shared, "Not only a great actor but a great mate. #prisoners#jake #amazingtalent"

Aside from Jackman, Gyllenhaal, and Dano, the movie also features Viola Davis, Maria Bello, Terrence Howard, Dylan Minnette, Zoe Borde, Erin Gerasimovich, Wayne Duvall, Len Cariou, and David Dastmalchian.

It is set to be released on Sept. 20.   Watch the trailer here:
