Bruno Mars To Play Super Bowl Halftime Show: [VIDEO] Feb. 2, 2014, MetLife Stadium Heats Up In Cold Winter As Top Star Makes Debut On This Stage

Bruno Mars play Super Bowl halftime show in 2014 in New Jersey next February.

The announcement that the pop-star, Bruno Mars will join the short list of great performers to sing and play at the special halftime show of the Super Bowl, came Sunday prior to the start of "opening day" for most teams in the NFL.

A video was played of Bruno Mars as kid, performing, to his performances of his hits like "Locked out of Heaven" and others, to end the video with that on 2,2,2014, the star will play at the Super Bowl inside MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.

"The Pepsi Super Bowl halftime show is the most-watched musical event of the year," the NFL news release said. "More than 110.5 million viewers in the U.S. watched last year's show."

The people watching beats the Grammy Awards or the Video Music Awards or any other, so it's a spotlight that not many have had the opportunity to have. Performers like Paul McCartney, Beyoncé, Tom Petty, Justin Timberlake and others have had the chance to do.

"It's an honor. It's just an honor" Mars told the Fox football gang right after the announcement with all of them standing in Time Square.

When multiple time Super Bowl champion Terry Bradshaw asked Mars if he thought about how cold it could be then, Mars said, "About that...At least it's going to be at the Super Bowl, right?"
