SNSD "Why Girls' Generation Can't Fail In The U.S." - Wall Street Journal

Even the Wall Street Journal, which covers a field that is far away from celebrity news, has covered news about the debut of Girls' Generation in the United States.

On the 7th, the Wall Street Journal featured an article about SNSD's appearance on "LIVE! With Kelly." To everyone's surprise, the article contained a lot of detail about the appearance.

It mentioned that Howie Mandel, who is a co-host of the show, complimented the girls on how well they spoke English. When Tiffany explained that she was born in America, Jessica also mentioned that she was also an American citizen. Howie Mandel was surprised and repeated how impressive it was.

The article on the Wall Street Journal explained the difference between the way the music market functions in the U.S. and in Europe. It talked about how Europeans take interest in foreign music and also the foreign languages the songs are in, which are major factors why the market in Europe is more accepting of music from foreign countries; bringing up a recent example of the sold out concert of Korean singers in France.

As opposed to France, majority of Americans only know English and don't really take interest in other languages so it is definitely harder to break into the music industry in the U.S. Even when somebody has an accent, Americans feel that there is an invisible barrier that makes the person with the accent unapproachable.

The only time a music from a foreign nation has been on the top of the list on the Billboards was acheived by the song "Macarena."

And since, not one, but TWO members of SNSD speak fluent English without any accent, it is said that the two girls will be the "treasure" that will greatly help in succeeding in America.

Also, the famous producer Teddy Riley working with Girls' Generation is bringing the girls more attention already.

The Wall Street Journal gave Girls' Generation and 2NE1 with high levels of success rates.
