Windows RT Tablets: Microsoft To Release Several Surfaces In September In Spite Dismal Performance Of Previous Devices

In spite a disappointing performance from its previous Windows RT slates, Microsoft is determined to bounce back with its second generation Surface tablets.

The Redmond-based company will hold an event on September 23 to unveil its next lineup of Surface laptops, the first to be the Surface Pro 2.

The new generation Surface Pro 2 will surely pack more features than its predecessor, while keeping in step with what its customers loved in the original. However, for Microsoft, that's where the problem begins.

Its other tablet, which would most likely succeed the Surface RT, should not only meet expectations, but exceed them. Last year, Microsoft was optimistic that the 'iPad killer' can bring them the pedestal in the tablet niche, but they were wrong. In spite several attempts by the company to cut prices, it still remains a flop unto this day. Microsoft wants to take another shot, and it looks like they are looking good.

According to rumors, the next Surface RT will not get the 'RT' suffix and for right reasons. Comments from NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun tell us that the new Surface tablet will get a Tegra 4 chip, a 1080p display, and an improvement in battery life mainly due to the rumored Power Cover.

It would allegedly support two specific positions, and both a primary and secondary camera. Reports from Techno Buffalo also said it may come witth an option for microSD storage expansion of up to 64GB.

But when all is said and done about the anticipated Surface Pro 2, and the intriguing Surface RT successor, it all comes down to aggressive pricing - one thing Microsoft has been having problems with for the past few years.
