Eminem Appears on ESPN to Promote New Album; Loves His Hometown Detroit Lions, But Fumbles Interview

Eminem made an awkward appearance on ESPN over the weekend to promote his new single. Eminem usually doesn’t give interviews and only rarely makes public appearances. Slim Shady hasn’t appeared on ESPN before. Eminem appeared on the "Saturday Night Football" halftime show on ESPN.

Eminem was on the sports station to promote his new single. Eminem’s new album is called “Marshall Mathers LP2” and it is set to drop in the fall. Eminem appeared on the halftime show to promote his new single and video, "Berzerk." Eminem’s new song "Berzerk" debuted on the Billboard "Hot 100" digital songs chart in the No. 2 spot with 362,000 downloads.

Eminem seemed awkward and confused when he first sat down with Brent Musburger and Kirk Herbstreit. The cameras caught Eminem with his mouth hanging open. Eminem has never done an interview live on ESPN. Eminem said "Live TV freaks me out a little bit."

When Kirk Herbstreit asked "What are you most excited about with this new album?" Eminem paused, maybe a little too long before admitting, "Nothing. No, it'll be out November 5th. I'll probably be most excited to just be done with it."

Brent Musburger referred to Slim Shady by his real name, Marshall Mathers, when he asked about his music. After a while, Eminem seem to get comfortable. Eminem said his new single, “Berzerk,” would be the new Saturday Night Football theme.

Eminem is a native of Detroit. He talked about his love of the home team, the Detroit Lions.

Eminem's "Berzerk" was produced by the legendary Rick Rubin. Eminem’s new album was produced by Rick Rubin and Dr. Dre. Rick Rubin also handled production for Kanye West’s “Yeezus.”

Eminem’s “Berzerk” draws from the styles and beats of Beastie Boys. Eminem’s “Berzerk” is a mix of raw sounds over a sample of Billy Squier's hit 1981 song "The Stroke." An associate said Billy Squire was flattered that Eminem sampled the song.

Eminem’s new album, "MMLP2" is set to be released on Nov. 5.
