Neo-Nazi Model Airplane Bomb Seized By German Police: Suspects Detained For Building Bombs In Model Planes To Use Against Left-Wing Activists
A neo-Nazi model airplane bomb was just seized by police in Germany.
A new report reveals German police have seized several model airplanes. One of the airplanes was revealed to be a fully functional bomb.
Investigators are not yet sure who the target was, as the project seemed to be in the early planning stages. The suspects likely planned to target left-wing activists with the model airplane bombs.
Two suspects were detained in the case.
The seizure occurred after police received a tip last week about the model airplane bombs; they then raided the homes of four suspects.
The Neo-Nazi suspects allegedly built model airplanes with bombs in them, said Wolfgang Maier, a spokesman for the Freiburg prosecutor's office.
The model airplane bomb would have seriously injured or killed anyone within a 50-foot radius of the explosion, and injuries may have resulted within a 100-foot-radius.
One 23-year-old was arrested and held for commissioning the project. Another suspect, 42, allegedly built the neo-Nazi model airplane bomb; he was subsequently released on bail.
Two other suspects are now being investigated by police for links to the case and far-right political activities.
Police say the one of the suspects had once thrown a firework at neo-Nazi opponents. In that case, five suspects got "acoustic trauma" by being too close to the explosion.
In this case, however, the neo-Nazi model airplane bomb could have led to much more injury than the previous firework case
