iPhone 5S Specs: New Apple Flagship Lacks Hardware Innovation, May Not Be Enough For Android Competition

After months of anticipation, we have finally witnessed Apple unveil its latest flagship, the iPhone 5S, together with the cheaper 5C. And while we were all a little suprised that the manufacturer is discontinuing the iPhone 5, its latest offering may suffice the needs of the market, or not.

If you place a white or black iPhone 5S beside an iPhone 5, you will barely notice the difference as far as looks is concerned. Indeed, there is the fingerprint sensor on the 5S's home button, but apart from that, it pretty looks exactly the same. That's just exactly the reason why Apple opted to pitch in a gold variant, and the new 'space gray' version. And while Apple has continuously highlighted its new smartphone's sleek features and upgraded software, its hardware may be needing more boost.

Last week, Android phone OEMs Samsung, Sony, LG and Motorola unveiled a series of top-notch devices which would surely be great options for people to buy this holiday season, and since Apple was several days late, we have might have expected too much from the Cupertino company.

Apple may have the latest A7 chip packed in its new handset, but its competitors already have quad and octa cores. While we don't doubt the technology behind Apple's own processor, it may just be one generation behind.

Aside from the processor and the anticipated fingerprint scanner, the iPhone 5S also has an improved camera that allows burst mode of up to 10 photos. It's good, I know, but its competitors have already been placing 20-30 burst shot images in their Android phones' cameras.

Of course, it is still too early to judge whether the iPhone 5S lacks enough features to become a best-seller, so we just have to find out in the next couple of days and weeks.
