Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus Jelly Bean Update: Amidst Report That Android 4.2.2 Is Its Last Official Update, Device Is Still A Keeper

Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus Jelly Bean update is reportedly the last update for the device. The report came after the Android 4.2.2 rollout began and rumors swirled for the upcoming Android 4.3 update for Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy S4.

The Samsung Galaxy S3, which came out last year, was an instant best seller and is expected to get the most recently available Android OS. However, the S2 Plus need not be discounted in terms of speed, quality and hardware specs.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus was recently upgraded from Ice Cream Sandwich to Android Jelly Bean and though its camera may have lower resolution than the newer S3, you won’t see the difference until you begin to make video calls, according to Sidhtech.

In the U.S., the Snapdragon dual core processor on the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Samsung Galaxy S2 comes with dual core. If you’re the owner of both devices, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is quicker of the two. According to Sidhtech blog, however, the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean will make it faster because of Project Butter.

Google Project Butter is an initiative for the Android mobile operating system to make OS quicker and more responsive for users, according to Webopedia. The results of Project Butter initially arrived at Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and have more enhancements in Android 4.2.2 The latter is the OS available for the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus.

Samsung Galaxy S2 is available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. You can also boost it up with another 32GB.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 offers S Voice, Smart Stay and Smart Call. These features, however, will still be available with Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus once the device is updated.

According to Sidhtech, if you’ve come at the end of your contract, considering the Samsung Galaxy S3 is a good option. However, there is still a lot left in the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus. The device though basically declared obsolete by its manufacturer, is still a keeper in terms of its features.
