Nicky Minaj Sued By Reclusive Electronic Musician For Copyright Infirngement: Do The Tracks Sound Alike? Decide For Yourself [VIDEO]

Nicki Minaj has been sued over "Starships", her 2012 hit, by a reclusive electronic musician, Clive Tanaka, who alleges copyright infringement.

Nicky Minaj allegedly used portions of Tanaka's 2011 track "Neu Chicago" in "Starships," and the electronic musician is taking the rapper to court.

The new copyright infringement suit against Nicki Minaj also names the song's producer RedOne, as well as three other writers, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The suit was filed at the U.S. District Court in Chicago on Tuesday (Sept. 10).

Court documents accuse Minaj of using portions of "Neu Chicago" in her own, and note that the song got extensive national and international radio airplay, thus that "They [the defendants] had a very good opportunity to hear it."

Tanaka even posted a mash-up of the two songs online to SoundCloud so that fans could hear for themselves and judge the similarity. His attorney, Christopher Niro, says, "We believe they are similar to the point that it is nearly impossible for it to be a coincidence."

Both songs are posted below- do you think they're similar? Let us know in the comments below!
