Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch Update: Wearable Device Will Have More Models, Will Mimic Range And Breadth Of Galaxy S Line

Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch is not going to be available in one model alone. The South Korean tech giant is expected to be releasing multiple models and features of the smartwatch, applying a strategy similar to the Galaxy S series.

Gotta Be Mobile reports that the Galaxy Gear lineup is set to have many more models coming up with various price points that will make it easier for market consumers to get one on their hands. Their mobile strategy of making various devices in different sizes, power and feature options has seen Samsung rise to be one of the biggest mobile device manufacturers on the globe. The same strategy is soon to be implemented on their Galaxy Gear line, reports Gotta Be Mobile.

As much as mobile device consumers are excited of the news that there are many additional models to come, Gotta Be Mobile maintains that there are no official statements released pertaining to what variations we should expect to see. They further state that there is also no information on whether the Galaxy Gear model will remain the flagship smartwatch or whether Samsung has other plans in mind. Samsung Galaxy Gear is currently retailing at $300, which is twice as expensive as other smartwatches in the market like the Pebble.

Gotta Be Mobile stipulates that it would be to entry-level users’ advantage if the South Korean giant would do away with some of the high-end features currently available on Galaxy Gear. The smartwatch has plenty of color variations to counter the disadvantage of users not being able to personally change the rubber wrist strap to their liking. All this is due to the fact that the wrist strap contains the watch’s camera and microphone.

According to Gotta Be Mobile, Samsung has officially reported that they will soon be making the Galaxy Gear compatible with other Galaxy phone products instead of the current option of only Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Note 10.1, which is to be released next year. This they intend to accomplish with new software updates on the varying devices.

In what could be good news for potential consumers, the tech giant also intends to make the Galaxy Gear compatible with other smartphones that run on Android 4.3 even though they are from other manufacturers.

Gotta Be Mobile also confirmed that Samsung made a report to SlashGear that they had run through hundreds of designs for the Galaxy Gear before finally choosing to run with the one seen at the IFA show. They however did not comment on whether any of the previously considered models would be making it to the retail shelves in the future.
