Nissan Nismo Smartwatch could practically be the other wearable device that will really go head to head with the Samsung Galaxy Gear. However, instead of it connecting to your phone, it will enable you to connect to your vehicle. Nissan stated that for drivers who own the Nissan Nismo, this watch will be the first of its kind that will allow them to be fully connected to their cars.

According to The Telegraph, the Nissan Nismo Smartwatch will allow the driver s to always know the vital information they need about the car’s efficiency. It will do this by tracking the average speed of the car and how much fuel it consumes for the distance driven. It will then compare all the telematics and performance data gathered while you do the driving.

The Telegraph also stated that the device would use biometric data received through a built-in heart rate monitor. With a simple to use smartphone app, the smartwatch will be able to connect to Nissan Nismo’s onboard computer to send and receive messages from the car manufacturer.

The marketing communications general manager of Nissan Europe, Gareth Dunsmore, stated that wearable technology is the next wave we should expect to trend in technology. They therefore want to take advantage of this to make sure that their Nismo Brand can be available for as many consumers as possible.

He went further to explain that Nissan is already providing the best in biometric training technologies to their Nissan Nismo Athletes. These very same technologies can be used to make sure owners of the Nissan Nismo have an enhanced driving experience and enjoy owning a Nismo.

According to The Telegraph, the Nismo Watch which enthusiasts have already had a chance to view at its launch at the Frankfurt Motor Show will come in 3 colors. Drivers will be able to choose between black, white and a combination of black and red which seem to be Nismo’s flagship colors.

When it comes to the specs, The Telegraph reported that it would operate on a lithium battery you can charge with a micro-USB. One charge is supposed to last a week under normal usage. The driver will only have two buttons making it easy to use while driving. It will attach to the wrist with a snap-fit mechanism for quick on-the-go wearing. In addition to monitoring your car, it will also allow rating your user’s performance on the popular social networks like Facebook and Twitter.

The Telegraph also added that Nissan had already launched the Nismo Lab that is a mobile platform where one can get all their new advanced biometric training tools. Some of these include Brainwave Technology and Jukeride which are performance analysis tools currently used on race cars and the Nismo Athletes as well.
