The couple has dealt with Miley Cyrus Liam Hemsworth break up rumors since earlier this year, when another incident with January Jones was reported, and also due to Miley not wearing her engagement ring at times.  While the MTV VMA twerking performance may have been a big cause of the Miley Cyrus Liam Hemsworth break up rumors, her new single and video Wrecking Ball probably isn't helping either.  Liam is supposedly the inspiration for the song and the video Wrecking Ball, but it's another raunchy nearly naked performance from Miley Cyrus so it might not make it too happy.

A source told Radar Online Liam Hemsworth's feelings about fiancé Miley Cyrus' VMA twerking performance, and the possibility of a Miley Cyrus Liam Hemsworth break up resulting from it: "Liam really does care about Miley, but her racy new look and sort of ghetto attitude isn't exactly what he signed up for."

"Her VMA performance absolutely mortified him and he couldn't be more embarrassed. He doesn't really see anything sexy about what she did on stage."

"It's not just Liam that Miley is pushing away...his entire team is urging him to part ways with her because she's nothing but negative for his reputation and career."

"Liam is a serious actor with a growing career, while Miley has just turned into a joke."

"It's pretty much over. He knows he can't stay with her when this is who she's become."

Liam Hemsworth did not attend the VMAs with fiancée Miley Cyrus.  According to Hollywood Life, Miley didn't want him there for her infamous MTV VMA twerking performance: "Miley knew her performance was going to be outside his comfort zone and she didn't want to be worrying about him in the audience and how he was going to react."

"The whole thing was just another day of work for her, she wants her album to be number one and that means promoting the hell out of it."

"Liam's family is very conservative, so she knows they won't approve of her performance."

Miley Cyrus Liam Hemsworth break up rumors have actually been going on since before the infamous Miley Cyrus MTV VMA twerking performance.  In February, it was rumored that Liam got 'hot and heavy' with January Jones at a pre-Oscar party.

January was linked to the Hunger Games actor again earlier this month when it was claimed Liam was sending saucy texts to the Mad Men actress. 

According to Us Weekly, he 'fired off a graphic, sexual text message' to January that reportedly said, "I want to F**k you."

A source told Us Weekly that "They're just weeks away from calling it off permanently. Liam feels very distant emotionally from Miley these days."

The couple were last seen walking the red carpet as a couple in early August , when Miley supported Liam at the premiere of his new Paranoia in Los Angeles. However, witnesses said they "acted like strangers".

"Miley and Liam acted like they didn't even know each other the entire night," a source said. "She was wearing her ring but they acted as if they were strangers.

"[Their kisses] were awkward and he didn't seem into them."
