The Expendables 3 cast members get to blow things up and go for some real adrenaline-pumping action that would surely delight the audience, but they also face some real challenges while on set. Terry Crews who plays 'Hale Caesar' in the movie had narrated a near-death experience while filming, which involves a truck, the Black Sea, and Jason Statham. 

"I just shot Expendables 3 in Bulgaria," he told Jay Leno in an interview.  "But wait, wait, wait... I had a near-death experience." 

"We're doing a stunt and Jason Statham was driving this truck," he narrated.  "We were supposed to be on the back of this truck." 

"For some reason, we were just talking and we were drinking smoothies and something like that.  And he [Statham] gets into the truck." 

He continued.  "We're in Varna in Bulgaria, at the edge of the Black Sea. He gets on the truck.  He's supposed to stop the truck, we get out, shoot, the whole thing. Well, the truck hasn't stopped. The truck went over the dock, into the Black Sea, and Jason Statham was driving!" 

Crews, an excellent narrator, tells of the drama when the truck went into the water with Statham still in it [watch the video of the interview!]. 

Crews then said, "And literally, he gets out, swims to the top... and the truck is gone!" 

It's a good thing that Statham isn't afraid of water. Having been a member of Britain's National Diving Squad for twelve years and finished 12th in the World Championships in 1992, the 46-year old actor and stuntman can swim - and quite well at that. 

And Crews had nothing but praise for Statham, saying, "Jason Statham is a true bad, bad dude!... You can't believe how incredible that is!" 

It must have been unnerving for Crews, though, who was supposed to be on the back of the truck.  

But Leno, in his good humor, matched by Crews' own jolly disposition, noted, "But you were having a smoothie!" 

Aside from Terry Crews and Jason Statham, The Expendables 3 also stars Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. They will be joined by Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, Victor Ortiz, and Glen Powell.  The film will be shown in theaters on August 15, 2014.
