X-Men Days Of Future Past [Spoilers] Ellen Page To Star In Spin-Off Movie For Kitty Pryde? Younger Characters Take Spotlight

The latest chapter of the X-Men series will feature more of the younger characters. They might even have their own spin-off movies just like Wolverine.

"X-Men: days of Future Past" will feature time travel and a whole lot of mutants. It will feature characters from two different timelines. In both timelines, though, it's clear that Marvel wants the franchise to shift the focus on the younger mutants.

One of the candidates for a full length feature in the future is Kitty Pryde (hero name: Shadowcat). She is portrayed by Ellen Page, who rose to stardom playing a teenager who got pregnant in "Juno." Her character has gained more relevance in the plotline, even though she was only introduced in "X3: The Last Stand."

The spinoff movie was actually suggested by Joss Whedon, writer and director of "The Avengers." Not too many people are aware that Whedon wrote for the X-Men comics. He developed Kitty Pryde into a central character in the series.

In an interview with Vulture, Ellen Page talks about the concept of a full Kitty Pryde movie: "I have heard that, yeah! Well, I'm available! [Laughs.] I love that. Kitty Pryde's awesome. I'm super grateful to be the actress who's gotten to be her, and you only desperately hope that the true fans who have a right to demand what they want and who have been passionate about these stories for a really long time, that you can pull it off for them. I would be so thrilled to play Kitty Pryde again. I really would."

While working with Whedon would be a dream come true, Page was all praises for her current director, Bryan Singer:  "I don't know how he pulls off everything he does in a day. I really don't! He is really great with actors and really wants the truth of the performance to exist, to sort of elevate that kind of a film, which I feel he did with the first two X-Men movies."

She adds: "He was sort of the first to take that kind of a spectacle of film and tell a deeply, deeply human story."
