Legend Of Korra Season 2 Episode 5 To Introduce President Raiko: Bryan Konietzko Supports Fan Art…Sort Of

"The Legend of Korra" season 2 has aired three episodes so far, and the episode description for episode 5 has just been leaked.

It appears that the much discussed President of the Republic will have a lot to do in this episode.

"When the president of the United Republic refuses to help Korra, she decides to take matters into her own hands," writes the official "Legend of Korra" season 2 episode 5 description.

Although we have yet to meet President Raiko, he has been seen briefly in the newsreel in "The Legend of Korra" season 2 premiere, "Rebel Spirit."

So who is President Raiko?

He is the first President of the United Republic after the United Republic Council was disbanded due to its failure to represent the interests of the majority. The Equalists attacks on Republic City also played a role in Raiko being elected.

Raiko is a non-bender and is the first to have no affiliation with the four nations.

In a recent interview with EW, co-creator Michael Dante DiMartino discusses Raiko and his significant presence in "The Legend of Korra" season 2.

"The biggest change as a result of the Equalist movement was the election of the United Republic's first President. President Raiko becomes a significant presence in Book 2, as well as a new authority figure with whom Korra butts heads," says DiMartino.

Meanwhile, Bryan Konietzko has voiced his support of fan art for "The Legend of Korra." While he often posts fan art, he also took the time to voice his opinion on the subject of fan art.

"I think making fan art of all kinds (illustration, fan fiction, cosplay, sculpture, knitting, etc.) is fantastic. And I think making fan art as a stepping stone in order to create your worlds, characters, and stories is even better."

"So as much as I enjoy fanart, I also want to see what amazing original ideas and artwork people have waiting to be unearthed from their heads and hearts."
