Pokemon X And Y Pokedex Update: Zygarde Revealed, Pokemon Z To Center Around Legendary? Meet Dragalge!

Pokemon X and Y are just around the corner, and more Pokedex entries have surfaced in the form of a new legendary as well as another Dragon Pokemon.

Meet Zygarde, the serpent type legendary Pokemon that has long been speculated to oppose Xerneas and Yveltal.

As many fans have noticed, Pokemon X and Y is inspired by the Norse mythology of Yggdrasil.

"In Norse mythology, the Tree of the World, Yggdrasil, is located at the center of the universe and holds the nine worlds together through its roots," writes Zelda Informer contributor Colin McIsaac.

"While X, Y, and Z represent the three axes on a 3D plane, they also represent the three encompassing realms held by Yggdrasil: Asgard, Midgard, and Niflheim. Most importantly, each of the three encompassing realms is represented by a different animal."

McIsaac goes to explain that Asgard is located at the top of Yggdrasil and home to the divine eagle (Yveltal). Midgard is home to the stags with branch-shaped horns (Xerneas).

More interestingly, the roots of Yggdrasil is said to house a serpent-like dragon Niohoggr, trapped by the roots from the rest of the Yggdrasil.

Zygarde certainly fits the bill.

As seen from the image above, Zygarde's Pokedex entry directly counteracts the Aura abilities of Xerneas and Yveltal, and is encountered at level 70.

But Zygarde is not the only Pokedex entry to be revealed as a Dragon-type. Dragalgie, the evolution of Skrelp, is the first Poison/Dragon dual-type of the Pokedex.
