"How I Met Your Mother" season 9 spoilers: Broadway star Lin-Manuel Miranda will join the cast of "How I Met Your Mother" in a guest appearance in season 9, joining fellow former Broadway actors like Barney and "The Mother."

Neil Patrick Harris, who plays Barney Stinson in "How I Met Your Mother," and Cristin Milioti, who plays "The Mother," both were Broadway actors; Milioti was the star in Broadway's Tony award-winning musical "Once," before she snagged the role of "The Mother" on "How I Met Your Mother," the CarterMatt.com reports, according to IB Times.

Now, "How I Met Your Mother" co-creators and executive producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas announced that Broadway star Lin-Manuel Miranda will guest star in season 9, though they did not announce in which episode or in what role, IB Times reports.

Carter Bays and Craig Thomas made the announcement via Twitter.

"Here's another bit of #HIMYM casting propaganda: A guest appearance by our good friend @Lin_Manuel Miranda!" Bays posted on his Twitter account @CarterBays.

Craig Thomas tweeted on his account @HimymCraig: "So excited to have @Lin_Manuel joining us on #HIMYM-meant to be!"

The 33-year-old Broadway actor confirmed the casting news with a simple tweet to Bays and Thomas: "You guys. YOU GUYS!"

Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote and starred in the Broadway production "In the Heights" and won a Tony Award for "Best Original Score" as the composer and lyricist, IB Times reports.

Miranda also appeared in the NBC TV drama series "Do No Harm."

Other confirmed "HIMYM" guest stars for the final season, season 9, include actor Wayne Brady as Barney Stinson's brother, James, actress Sherri Shepherd as Daphne in the season premiere episodes, the "Karate Kid" star William Zabka and "Breaking Bad" actor Bryan Cranston.

We previously reported that Bryan Cranston would reprise his role of Hammond Druthers, Ted Mosby's unstable former boss.

The ninth and final season of "How I Met Your Mother" airs Mondays on CBS.
