‘Carrie’ Star Chloe Moretz Admits She Didn’t Watch The Original Movie; ‘Buckets Of Blood’ App Released For Movie Promo

For the "Carrie" remake, lead star Chloe Moretz decided not to watch the original movie. Was it too scary? Try it for yourself with the new "Carrie: Buckets of Blood" App!

In an interview with Empire, the star we once knew as "Hit Girl" confessed:  "I deliberately haven't watched the original movie. I'm sure what Sissy Spacek and Brian De Palma did was phenomenal, but I didn't want to end up copying any performances. I wanted to make my Carrie come to life and not steal someone else's Carrie."

On being the exact same age as her character: "That's why I really connected. What's happening to Carrie is really what's happening to me. I'm a 15-year-old girl who is basically living what Carrie is going through in the film. Trying to figure out your relationship with mum and with dad and figuring out what your voice is. And that's Carrie."

In an interview with Telegraph UK, she was asked on whether she was wary of taking on such an iconic role: "Yeah, of course. What I was nervous about was taking on a character that is so dark and so vulnerable and making sure that I did it the best it could be done. It's the very opposite of the Sissy Spacek version. It really is based on the Stephen King novel and it's very different from the original film."

On the differences between the remake and the original: "It bases itself around the Margaret [played by Julianne Moore] and Carrie relationship. In the first film, they based the movie's point of view through the teenagers' eyes looking into Carrie's life. Whereas in this film, it's seen through Carrie's eyes looking out into the world, so you breathe with Carrie, you cry with Carrie and you really live in her shoes, which I think makes a more vulnerable, quiet, sad and dark movie."

Meanwhile, a promotional App called "Carrie: Buckets Of Blood" has been released on the App Store. The full description:

"Create your own Carrie prom scene and share your animated GIF with the official free Carrie Buckets of Blood app. Take a series of photos of yourself and share your GIF to tumblr or link to your animated GIF on Facebook and Twitter."
