For the past couple of years, Samsung has prided itself in its Galaxy S line where it really bolstered itself in the Android world, and smartphone competition as a whole. However, its Samsung Galaxy S4 sales are still far from impressive as far as the Korean manufacturer is concerned. 

The recent and worldwide success of Apple's Touch ID-equipped iPhone 5s is also another major factor why the Galaxy S4 has not been able to keep up with the company's previous sales growth. 

In a note to investors by Jefferies & Co. analyst Peter Misek, Samsung is said to be missing its sales targets for the Galaxy S4. In addition, the Korean giant is said to be relying on its component supply business to regain keep its earnings at an ideal level. 

In August, a report surfaced that Samsung will hold an event in November just to keep the confidence of analysts and investors in the company's smartphone lineup, particularly the underperforming Galaxy S4.
