2NE1 Almost Included Former Miss Korea Honey Lee? 'I Am The Best' Being Used In Avant-Garde Play Depicting Japanese-Korean History

As fans patiently (or impatiently) await the delayed 2NE1 comeback, some interesting news has surfaced regarding a former YG trainee who almost made it into the group.

During an interview with former Miss Korea Honey Lee, the actress was asked about whether she was being considered to be a member of 2NE1.

Although she neither confirmed nor denied the claim during this "One Night of TV Entertainment" interview, she did confirm about being a YG trainee for about a year.

Although Honey Lee has been asked about almost joining 2NE1 before, it is amusing to hear her talk about her training days with YG.

Some netizens, however, are less than enthused about this recent bit of news, even comparing her to Clara in a negative way.

"Haven't we already heard this from other Korean celebs? Apparently everyone was close to joining 2NE1," writes Geekherd on AllKPop.

"I don't think she's being like Clara right now. She didn't confirm nor deny the statement, she just worked around it. Clara keeps boasting the fact, or so I've been told," adds xtiffany.

Meanwhile, 2NE1 is also making a splash in the theatre world, with their iconic single "I Am the Best" being used in the play "Kamome," an adaptation of Anton Chekov's "Seagull."

According to YGLadies, "Kamome" is a play about the relationship between Japan and Korea during the 1930's era, and the use of modern music like 2NE1 could be part of its avant-garde style.

So if you want to check out 2NE1 within a historical, experimental theatre piece, check out "Kamome" in Doosan Art Center. Space 111 theatres.
