Last October 17, 'Vampire Diaries' lead actor Ian Somerhalder appeared on 'Live with Kelly and Michael' where he excitedly retold the story of how his adopted dog Nietzche got pregnant. He likewise did not waste chance in revealing something which might devastate the fans of on-screen lovers Damon and Elena.

Somerhalder previously rescued the dog who's wandering alone near the set of TVD. As a responsible owner, he scheduled Nietzche to be spayed. However, the process was not pursued after the veterinarians proved her pregnancy: "They opened her up to spay her and there were all these little puppies in there. The vets were like 'Sew her up! Close her, close her!'" Somerhalder's dog eventually gave birth to healthy puppies and in a series of online posts, the 'Lost'  actor showed his pride and eagerness to take care of the canine bunch.

For 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 5, Somerhalder hinted that the passionate relationship of Damon and Elena wouldn't be for eternity:  "You can't be too happy in Mystic Falls. He got the girl, finally. It's cute, man. You've got this guy who's a maniacal killer, with the same look on his face whether he's saving a kitten from a tree or ripping your face off, and he's in love. It's cute. And it's not going to last, probably."

In the last episode of the vampire flick, Damon was portrayed showing signs of jealousy for his younger brother Stefan who happened to be Elena's former boyfriend.
