‘Avatar 2’ Star Sam Worthington Reveals Three Avatar Sequels! Filming Starts In 2014; Plagiarism Case Against Director James Cameron Dismissed

'Avatar' has been declared to be James Cameron's idea. The plagiarism case has been dropped. Not long after, lead star Sam Worthington reveals their filming dates.

In a radio interview with Australia Radio station NovaFM, Worthington reveals: "We are going to start this time next year and we will do two, three and four. In one shot, we'll do them simultaneously. I'll be grateful if it finishes. I think Jim is building the ship to Pandora, to be honest."

Fox recently announced that there would actually be three sequels (not two as previously reported) and that Cameron had hired screenwriters Josh Friedman ("War of the Worlds"), Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver ("Rise of the Planets of the Apes"), and Shane Salerno ("Savages," "Salinger") to collaborate with him on the screenplays for "Avatar 2," "Avatar 3″ and "Avatar 4."

It's hard to blame them. "Avatar" is the highest grossing film of all time exceeding $2 billion in worldwide gross.

Meanwhile, A California state court judge has sided with James Cameron, dismissing a lawsuit alleging the director had plagiarized ideas for the blockbuster film.

Cameron and his production outfit Lightstorm Entertainment were sued in 2011 by Eric Ryder.  Ryder alleged that he had spent two years developing a movie at Lightstorm that became the basis for "Avatar." Ryder said he wrote an environmentally themed movie script called "K.R.Z. 2068″ and created treatments, photos, 3D imagery and characters.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Susan Bryant-Deason granted Cameron's motion Wednesday for summary judgment and found "Avatar" was independently created by Cameron.

The official statement of James Cameron regarding the suit: "Sadly, it seems that whenever a successful motion picture is produced, there are people who try to 'get rich quick' by claiming their ideas were used. Several such claims have been asserted in connection with 'Avatar.' I am grateful that our courts have consistently found these claims to be meritless."

"As I have previously stated, 'Avatar' was my most personal film, drawing upon themes and concepts that I had been exploring for decades. I am very appreciative that the Court rejected the specious claim by Mr. Ryder that I used any of his ideas in my film." (quotes from Variey)
