Arnold Schwarzenegger For President? Former California Governor Requesting Amendment To Allow Him To Run in 2016

He used to be Mr. Universe. Now he wants to become the most powerful man in the world.

Arnold Scwarzenegger has broken into Hollywood and became a global icon. It was enough for him to win as Governor of California. He has since returned to making movies, starring recently with Sylvester Stallone in “Escape Plan” and the upcoming “The Expendables 3.”

Despite his long and colorful career, Arnie considers his single term as California governor as the best job he’s ever had.

Now Arnold has set his eyes on the next step. After heading one state, he now wants to head all fifty of them.

“Schwarzenegger has been talking openly about working on getting the constitutional rules changed so he can run for president in 2016,” a source told the New York Post. “He is ready to file legal paperwork to challenge the rules.”

Perhaps that’s the biggest roadblock of all. The constitution requires that any one running for President should be born in the United States. Article II, Section 5 of the Constitution requires one to be a natural born citizen.

“No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.”

Amending the constitution will require a two-thirds vote of Congress.
