‘Veronica Mars’ Kristen Bell And ‘Parenthood’ Star Dax Shepard Get Married In Low-Key Wedding At County Office

Just because it's two celebrities, doesn't mean it has to be a circus. In a no-frills ceremony, a long time couple ties the knot.

Best Wishes are in order for Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard! The longtime Hollywood couple who are also parents to daughter Lincoln, now 7 months, finally got married on Thursday, Oct. 16 . They exchanged vows in a no-frills ceremony at the Beverly Hills County Clerk's Office.  TMZ was first to break the news. The now defunct "Veronica Mars" actress, 32, and "Parenthood" actor, 38, are said to have arrived at the office to simply obtain a marriage license, but took up a court employee's offer to marry them in a nearby courtroom. The spontaneity had Bell shedding tears.

The couple actually got engaged in December 2009, but they publicly declared that they will not have their wedding until same-sex marriage bans were overturned nationwide.

Even after their daughter was born, the couple held on to their principles. Kristen Bell explains: "I don't feel appropriate taking advantage of a right that's denied to my [gay and lesbian] friends. It's just kind of rude to invite everyone to a party for a rite not everyone can hold."

Last June though,  when the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the Defense of Marriage Act -- and Proposition 8 was overturned in California -- Bell revisited their proposal and brought it to Twitter. The comic star's response: "Let's bring my big, gay marriage to [Kristen] to Life!!!"

While it's a new phase in their life, the former Sarah Marshall is still enjoying the new phase called motherhood:  "It's actually better than I expected . . . It's pretty wonderful." (Quotes from US magazine)
