‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 5 Spoilers: Damon And Elena ‘Not Going To Last,’ Ian Somerhalder Hints

"The Vampire Diaries" season 5 started with Damon and Elena happy and in love, but now Ian Somerhalder dished some "Vampire Diaries" season 5 spoilers, suggesting that Damon and Elena's relationship won't last.

"The Vampire Diaries" episode 3, which aired on October 17, revealed that fate is working to reunite Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Stefan (Paul Wesley), and that Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is literally fighting destiny by being with her, Hollywood Life reports.

So will Damon defy destiny by being with Elena? Or will Elena choose Stefan over his older brother?

Ian Somerhalder revealed some spoilers about what is to come in season 5 of "Vampire Diaries," and it doesn't sound good for Delena fans.

"You can't be too happy in Mystic Falls," he explained on Live With Kelly and Michael, SugarScape reports. "He got the girl, finally. It's cute, man. You've got this guy who's a maniacal killer, with the same look on his face whether he's saving a kitten from a tree or ripping your face, and he's on love.

"It's cute...and it's not going to last, probably."

Ian Somerhalder explained the dynamics of Damon and Elena's relationship to The LA Times, SugarScape reports: "Well, let's get something out in the open right now. You're talking about a guy who is 174 years old dating an 18-year-old. Talk about robbing the cradle! I would be so bold as to say that things change. And in Mystic Falls they change rapidly. Love comes in many forms.

"You have to fight for it and you have to work for it. Her being away at college and all that stuff that happens in Mystic Falls, it's going to be challenging. It's what creates the drama of the show.

He added: "That's my story and I'm sticking to it."

Fate may win over Damon's true love this time.
