Marilyn Monroe Is The New Face Of Chanel No. 5 Even If She's Been Dead For 51 Years! Blonde Beauty Wore Nothing In Bed ButThe Perfume

When legendary designer Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel created Chanel No. 5 in 1921, what she have in mind was a "woman's fragrance that smells like a woman."

To complement the sophistication outfits that her brand carried, Chanel wanted a scent that would exude femininity and independence at the same time. Years after, the Chanel No. 5 remains a staple in most women dressers  For its Christmas campaign, the world's best-selling fragrance has chosen the late Marilyn Monroe to be its face.

Before she passed away, the 'How to Marry a Millionaire' star had a radio interview with the former editor-in-chief of Marie Claire, George Belmont. In the said 1960 interview, Monroe wittingly revealed what she wore to bed: "You know, they ask me questions. Just an example : 'What do you wear to bed ? A pyjama top ? The bottoms of the pyjamas ? A nightgown ?' So I said, 'Chanel No.5', because it's the truth... And yet, I don't want to say 'nude'. But it's the truth!"

To support her claim, the blonde bombshell likewise had a photograph of her clad in a nightgown while having a whiff of the perfume. The black and white shot was taken by photographer Ed Feingersh.

The photo will be used for the perfume's TV and print campaign and will be debuting this coming autumn.
