Is Jennifer Lawrence Bad In Handling Criticisms? 'Hunger Games' Actress Hints That Money And On-Set Catering Motivate Her To Work

Jennifer Lawrence isn't afraid to voice out that she is aware of what her haters are saying behind her back specifically "overweight" and "stuttering idiot". In the November issue of Harper's Bazaar, the 23-year-old actress talks about the pain that she went through after being questioned for her physical appearance.

"I was young. It was just the kind that actresses have to go through. Somebody told me I was fat, that I was going to get fired if I didn't lose a certain amount of weight. They brought in pictures of me where I was basically naked, and told me to use them as motivation for my diet," says the 'Catching Fire' actress.

The young star of the dystopian novel film adaptation of Suzanne Collins says that her Oscar award does not mean that she is an expert already in handling criticisms: "They thought that because of the way my career had gone, it wouldn't still hurt me. That somehow, after I won an Oscar, I'm above it all. 'You really still care about that?' Yeah. I was a little girl. I was hurt."

Lawrence likewise received an award for her role in the dramatic comedy 'Silver Linings Playbook'. However, she stumbled on the stairs when she went to accept the honor. While she received a standing ovation, the actress questioned the motive of the audience for doing the deed. In her acceptance speech, she said, "You guys are standing up because you felt bad that I fell, which is embarrassing. This is nuts."

Critics were again quick to react about Lawrence's handling of the situation. Despite the downsides, Lawrence jokes that what motivates her to work is not the satisfaction that she gets from each role but the money as well as the on-set catering.

She will be returning to cinemas on November 22 to continue the lief of Katniss Everdeen in "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire".  She will likewise come back next May for the role of shape-shifting mutant Mystique in "X-Men: Days of Future Past".
