‘Glee’ To Have Its Finale Next Season: Co-Creator Ryan Murphy Had To Shorten The Show Since The Final year Was ‘Designed Around Rachel And Finn’s Story’

Fans of 'Glee' will not only say goodbye to Finn Hudson but to the whole musical series after co-creator Ryan Murphy officially announced that the untimely ending will take place next season primarily because of the death of Cory Monteith who plays the role of Hudson.

"The final year of the show, which will be next year, was designed around Rachel and Cory/Finn's story. I always knew that, I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was, he was in it. I knew what the last line was, she said it to him. So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do, so we're figuring that out now," says Murphy to TV Line.

Fox has remained silent about the creators' decision especially that 'Glee' is one of its highly-admired shows in the network. Fans are wondering whether it is possible to have a spin-off series if the creators just cannot continue 'Glee' because of Monteith's tragic death.

Last October 10, the cast of 'Glee' bid farewell to their beloved friend by offering heartfelt songs. 'The Quarterback', which pertains to Monteith's position as a football athlete, generated 7.4 million viewers.
