‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 4 Spoilers: Who Is The Three-Eyed Raven? Struan Rodger Cast As Mysterious Bloodraven Character

"Game of Thrones" season 4 spoilers: Struan Rodger will join the cast of "Game of Thrones" in season 4, as the "Three-Eyed Raven." So who is the "Three-Eyed Raven" in the books written by George R.R. Martin?

Spoiler alert!

In Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" novels, which the HBO series "Game of Thrones" is based off of, the "Three-Eyed Raven," also called Bloodraven, also called Lord Brynden Rivers, is a centuries-old Targaryen bastard who once served as Hand of the King, and later as the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, HitFix reports.

In the novels, Bran Stark encounters Bloodraven north of the Wall, when he learns that the mysterious "three-eyed crow" he sees in his dreams and Bloodraven are the same.

British actor Struan Rodger has reportedly landed the role on "Game of Thrones" season 4. On his online resume, Rodger lists the role of "Three-Eyed Raven" in connection to "Thrones," HitFix reports.

Bloodraven is arguably the most important character for Bran on his journey so far, according to spoilers, Zap2it.com reports.

It is unclear whether or not Rodger will appear "in the flesh" and meet Bran in season 4, or make an appearance in Bran's visions, HNGN reports.

Interestingly, Bloodraven doesn't make his first major appearance until the fifth book in the series, "A Dance with Dragons," but the character will appear as early as season four of "Game of Thrones."

This may be a sign that the writers wanted to move Bran's storyline along, due to its relatively slow pace in the books, HitFix reports.

Rodger has appeared on British shows such as "Law & Order UK," "Chandler & Co.", "The Thick Of It" and films "Four Weddings and a Funeral," "The Madness of King George" and "Stardust," HNGN reports.

He will join other new actors in season 4 of "Game of Thrones," including Joel Fry (Hizdahr zo Loraq), Pedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell, the Red Viper), Indira Varma (Ellaria Sand), Mark Gattis, and Icelandic band Sigur Rós, whose role has yet to be announced, according to HNGN.
