Mac Pro 2013 Release Date: Specs Of Powerful Desktop Tower Made In USA Include 3.7GHz Quad-Core Xeon CPU, 12 GB Ram, Arriving December For $3K

MacPro 2013 release date is now pegged for December, officially, according to Apple. After Apple’s event this morning, the next generation desktop tower now has an official time-frame of when will it arrive in consumers hands. Starting at $3,000.00, the base model features 3.7GHz quad-core Xeon CPU with speeds of up to 3.9GHz, 12GB DRAM, two AMD FirePro D300 GPUS and a 256GB SSD.

In a report by Engadget, they noted that the machine starts at the above configuration but can expand to 64GB DRAM and 1 TB of flash storage. The higher-end versions of the desktop work station, priced at $4,000, has an option for 3.5 GHz 6-core Intel Xeon E5 Processor, dual AMD FirePro D500 GPUs with 3GB of VRAM each, 16GB of memory, and 256GB of PCIe-based flash storage.

Apple claims that this is a machine that is good for you for the “next 10 years,” which is why Engadget suggests that some expansion beyond the base model maybe a good idea. The machine is as quiet as a Mac Mini and leaves a light carbon footprint as Apple claims it uses 70 percent less energy than the previous generation MacPro.

The presentation of the new MacPro ended with a video of the machines being manufacturer in the U.S., as promised when it was first announced in June at the WWDC.

According to the Austin American. Apple’s contract manufacturer for the Mac Pro Flextronics America, is hiring 1,700 workers for its Austin facility for a “next generation desktop computer.” Many speculate that it is the Mac Pro the company is referring to.

See the Austin-American report on the company’s hiring spree below.

“Flextronics America, which has ramped up hiring and spent tens of millions of dollars to renovate its Northwest Austin factory over the past two years, will start manufacturing a "next generation desktop computer" at the upgraded plant, according to a presentation it filed Monday with Travis County commissioners. “

“The document, part of a push by the computer and electronics manufacturer to have its Central Texas facilities designated as a foreign trade zone, suggests the company already created 879 jobs for the project and could add another 815 positions if it hits peak targets.”

According to Mac Rumors, Flextronics has been selected by Apple in an effort to bring some Mac production back to the United States. An unconfirmed tip from the tech site initially informs that the Flextronics would be using its facility in Forth Worth, Texas where it manufacturers the Moto X smartphone. Based on this latest clue, however, it seems that Flextronics will be using its Austin facilities instead which is less than a mile from Apple’s existing operation campus where an estimated 4,000 workers are employed.

The operations campus of Apple in Austin is undergoing a major expansion as the Cupertino tech giant is expected to spend over $300 million to add at least 3,600 new employees in the facility over the next 10 years.
