Blackberry BBM For Android, iPhone Available For Download, But Get In Line To Use The App; Find Out How Here

Blackberry's BBM messaging application is finally here, but Android and iPhone users are going to have to wait in line first to get it. Find out all the details on how to download the Blackberry BBM app for Android and iPhone here.

BlackBerry originally planned to launch BBM for iOS and Android on Sept. 21 but was forced to delay the release after a fake version leaked and overwhelmed the company's network, PC Mag reports.

On Monday, BlackBerry announced that BBM, the cross-platform messaging service for the iPhone and Android, is available for download, but not for use just yet. Instead, users will have to wait in line before they can start using the BBM service.

According to BlackBerry's blog post, here are the details on how to download the BBM app:

  1. Download BBM - the easiest way is to visit BBM.com from your Android or iPhone browser

  2. Once you install the app, open it, and enter your email address to hold your spot in line

  3. We will email you as soon as you reach the front of the line and can start using BBM

The explanation once the app is downloaded is: "Due to the incredible demand there is a line-up to start using BBM."

The Verge reports that Blackberry wrote in a blog post that over 10 million people have downloaded its cross-platform mobile app in the first 24 hours since its release yesterday.

Blackberry notes that it topped the Apple App Store's free apps list in over 75 countries, including the US.

According to The Verge, reviews on both Android and iOS so far seem very positive.

Those who already signed up at BBM.com can start using the app immediately, without waiting, PC Mag reports.

"If you didn't sign up in advance, don't worry - we are focused on moving millions of customers through the line as fast as possible," BlackBerry said.

Blackberry BBM is free for download on Android and iOS.
