Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Update: Samsung Galaxy S3 Expected To Receive Official Upgrade Before End Of 2013, Carrier & Co. Confirms

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update: The famous Android-powered handset, Samsung Galaxy S3, is finally expected to receive an official Jelly Bean update before the year ends, specifically for its LTE models, both Samsung and a French carrier SFR confirmed.

The South Korean tech giant intends to rollout Android 4.3 to Samsung Galaxy Galaxy S3 by year’s end, especially so that the devices will be able to offer support for the recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy Gear. The Android 4.3 rollout for the Samsung Galaxy S4 has already started.

In an earlier report by Gotta Be Mobile, the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy S3 has been pegged for a release within the month of November and tech blog, which SamMobile has confirmed. In a document obtained by Android Community, French carrier SFR noted in its rollout schedule Android 4.3 Jelly Bean to made available to its user this coming November or December including the Samsung Galaxy S3 and S4.

Android 4.3 brings improved RAM management and preloaded Samsung Wallet, notes Slash Gear. Other tweaks and improvements include improved display color reproduction and improved TouchWiz launcher, the tech blog explains. The new Jelly Bean update also adds a reading mode to optimize the display for reading and a new camera firmware.

According to Slash Gear, the update – at least for the recently released Android 4.3 for Galaxy S4 – still needs to be approved by carriers.

According to tech blog Android SAS, it received a blurry photo of a Samsung Galaxy S3 international model running the Android 4.3 operating system on its “about device” section. The Business Times noted that it’s not the first time an Android 4.3-powered Samsung Galaxy S3 device was spotted. Last July, Temefy shared an image from its insiders at Samsung R&D India of the Galaxy S3 running the mobile OS.

Although there is no way to verify the validity of the images, according to the International Business Times, the leaks have been consistent with the news of the pending roll-out, since it has been known the Android 4.2.2 will be skipped for the 4.3 update.

The rollout is intended to make the devices compatible for the recently launched smartwatch of Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy Gear. The Android 4.3 has a Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity, which will allow it to connect to external accessories, like the Galaxy Gear to other compatible handsets, noted the Business Times.
