‘Iron Man 3’ Ben Kingsley Has Secret Marvel Project; Captain America Easter Egg May Provide Clues

Summer's big hit "Iron Man 3" was quite a risky movie. It took a very different path from what most expected. Especially when dealing with Sir Ben Kingsley's character.

Kingsley was set to play "The Mandarin" one of Iron Man's arch-enemies which most comic fanboys were excited to see.

The former "Gandhi" actor did play the Mandarin. But it wasn't the Mandarin that we knew. He was just a figure head, and his 'real' character was Trevor Slattery, a British actor who was recruited to act as the terrorist leader "The Mandarin." At the end of the movie, Slattery was captured by the police and was incarcerated.

Ben Kingsley has confirmed that he is working for Marvel again. In the promotions for the movie "Ender's Game," He narrates:

"It's a secret Marvel project. I'm not allowed to say any more, you're going to have to wait and see."

On his opinion about Marvel Studios: "I think they have enormous taste as creative artists. There's nothing lazy or gratuitous about their work. They are at the top of their game, and they're great company to keep."

The speculation begins. Is it an entirely new project? Will he be a voice actor or will he be present physically? Perhaps he is the real Mandarin? Or that the Mandarin really is what he claims to be..a powerful terrorist mastermind?

Marvel's President for Production recently described their take on Mandarin:

"It's less about his specific ethnicity than the symbolism of various cultures and iconography that he perverts for his own end,"

"A lot of this movie(Iron Man 3) is about characters going back into the shadows for various reasons and characters who have been in the shadows coming out and into the light for the first time. It is Tony who, for various reasons, finds himself receding into the darkness. I don't mean emotional darkness, I mean literally ducking out of the spotlight. And we'll see other characters stepping up who have pulled strings from the background, starting to show their hand."

Another cryptic clue is that Slattery/Mandarin has a tattoo of Captain America's shield insignia. Is this a connection? In the comics, Captain America has also fought the Mandarin. This is pure speculation as nothing concrete has been given by Marvel.
