IPad Air: The New Apple iPad Makes False Claim Of Being The Thinnest Tablet In The World

iPad Air: The new iPad is claimed to be the thinnest tablet in the world, according to Apple. This is not true however.

The new iPad is the fifth generation iPad and 20 percent thinner than previous iPads. This iPad Air is thin at 7.5 millimeters thick. Apple said on stage at a press conference that it's the thinnest tablet in the world.

Sony's brand new Zperia Z tablet however is thinner. The Zperia Z is slimmer than the iPad Air by 0.6 millimeters.

The new iPad comes with a bezel around the display that is over 40 percent thinner than older iPads. It is very light at a weight of one pound. The previous generation iPads weighed almost a pound and a half.

In this fifth-generation new iPad is a 64-bit A7 processor. This is the same chip used in manufacturing Apple's iPhone 5s. This chip comes with a billion transistors and, according to Apple representatives, customers can expect double the performance compared to older iPads.

iOS 7 is the operating system for Apple's new product. It is the most updated version of Apple's mobile OS.

This is the first iPad to come with dual Wi-Fi antennas and MIMO technology. This will allow users to see improved wireless data connection.

According to Apple, the new iPad Air will have a 10-hour battery life just like older iPad models.

Wired magazine reports that Apple's vice president of worldwide marketing Phil Schiller also said on stage, "It's so new in so many ways, it deserves a new name. This is probably our biggest leap forward in a full-size iPad."

The new iPad Air is set to be available to consumers on on November 1 this year. It will be sold all over the world. Price for the new table begins at $499. For $629 customers can use it along with cellular data.
