"How I Met Your Mother" season 9 spoilers reveal a familiar face will return in episode 12 of "How I Met Your Mother" season 9: Robin's first ex-boyfriend, Simon, played by James Van Der Beek.

According to Hypable, James Van Der Beek announced the spoiler on his Twitter, saying that he will be back on "How I Met Your Mother" in season 9, to reprise his role as Robin's ex-boyfriend, Simon, when she was known as pop sensation, Robin Sparkles.

Van Der Beek broke the news about his "HIMYM" return on his Twitter. He wrote: "Like many Americans, I'm working 2 jobs today. Luckily, neither one requires actual work ;) #FWBL #HIMYM"

He also posted about his commute from the set of the show "Friends with Better Lives" to the "How I Met Your Mother" set, and it doesn't look enjoyable.

"Greenest. Commute. Ever. #fwbl to #himym" Van Der Beek tweeted, along with a link to an Instagram video of him walking through an industrial parking lot to the next set.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Van Der Beek will reprise his role in season 9's  episode 12 of "How I Met Your Mother," which is titled "Bedtime Stories."

Van Der Beek previously portrayed Robin's ex-boyfriend Simon in two episodes: season 3′s "Sandcastles in the Sand" and season 8′s "P.S. I Love You," Hypable reports.

It's unknown if Simon will be at Robin and Barney's wedding or if he will be appearing via flashback.

But one thing's for sure: we can almost count on seeing Robin Sparkles again this season.

Episode 7 is set to air on Monday night, October 28th at 7pm central time on CBS.
