Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Review, Update: Android 4.2.2 Update For Tablet’s Wi-Fi Version Now Available Via OTA & Samsung Kies, Small UI Changes Expected

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 update: The highly anticipated Android 4.2.2 is now available via an OTA update. According to Phone Arena, users who have yet to receive the notification can also avail the update via Samsung Kies, by traditionally hooking up the handset to their PC.

There will be some small UI changes that can be expected once the update is installed. This is particularly for the TouchWiz, Contacts, S Planner and Email. Phone Arena notes that the LTE version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has already received the update.

Specs of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 include an 8-inch screen with resolution of 1200 x 800. The pixel density of the device is at 189ppi. Processor of the Note 8 is a quad-core 1.6GHz Samsung Exynos 4412 Processor with the Mali-400 MP4 for the gadget’s graphics. There will be 2GB of RAM available for the Note 8 together with 16GB of native storage. Samsung’s rear facing camera has 5MP and records video in 1080 x 1920 at 30fps. The front-facing camera has 1.3MP. A 4600mAh cell powers up the Android device.

Similar with the numerous features offered by Samsung phablet’s lines, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has S Pen capabilities, SAFE, Air View and Multi Window. The availability of this update also means that it now has one of the latest iterations of the Google mobile OS.

No news yet on when the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will have the Android 4.3, though it is very likely that it will skip it for the Android 4.4 KitKat. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 starts at $379.99 and comes in white and brown/black variations.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 belongs to the second generation of Samsung Galaxy Note series of tablets. It also has a 10-inch edition, the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 2014 Edition. The Note 8 was Samsung’s first 8-inch tablet.
